Still Small TheatreIn 2016, I got involved with a nonprofit Christian theatre troupe, Still Small Theatre. In addition to acting in many shows, I have also served as a board member and occasional photographer.
Still Small Theatre was co-founded by J.M.D. Myers, who has written and directed many of the shows and accompanying programming. When the coronavirus pandemic put our live shows on hold for a while, Still Small focused on developing more digital content. Much of it can be found on on the troupe's YouTube channel, website, and social media platforms. |

OnstageIn repertory, the play is staged in the round with a cast of six actors, all but one of whom play multiple characters.
I joined the repertory cast of this show in 2017, starting with supporting roles. I played the lead role for a couple performances in 2019. Bernardston-Northfield Community Television recorded our July 2018 performance at the C. S. Lewis Study Center. In this run, my roles included Felicitas, a dragon, Dinocrates, and grown-up Aulus. |
On filmWhen the coronavirus prevented us from performing in person for a while, we used that time to adapt The Diary of Perpetua into a feature-length film, which premiered in spring 2022. In this adaptation, I played a reporter and a crowd extra, and recorded vocals for some group songs on the soundtrack.
The film received a Special Award from the Content 2022 Film and Media Summit, an award for Exceptional Achievement from the Multi Dimension Independent Film Festival, and an Honorable Mention from MoviePlay International Film Festival. You can watch it on YouTube followed by a virtual talkback with the cast and creative team; or order the special edition DVD of the film to see special bonus content. It is also available for screenings with Q&A sessions. The soundtrack album is available on Amazon, Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube. |

One of Still Small Theatre's seasonal repertory shows is Today, In This Town, a half-hour Nativity play based on The York Mystery Cycle. Following the tradition of medieval mystery plays, this production sets the first Christmas in the present day, bringing out unusual -- and often amusing -- parallels to our current culture.
Having joined the rep cast in 2017, I've played a wide variety of characters in this show, including Mary, Gabriel, a supporting angel, a pigeon, a crazy cat lady, and two different professors. |

I gave this monologue at the end of Act I, after the burial of Jesus. Still Small's YouTube channel also has monologues from Joseph of Arimathea (Eli Donis) and Joanna (J.M.D. Myers).

I played a lead role in Still Small Theatre's 2019 production of The Prophet Project, an original play told through the words of the Old Testament prophets. A chorus similar to those in ancient Greek theatre narrates the drama unfolding between Hosea and Gomer, a couple whose tumultuous marriage reflects the relationship between God and humankind. It is a universal story of love, justice, reconciliation, and redemption.
The DVD of this performance can be bought in our store. We also offer a Bible study curriculum inspired by the show, as well as virtual events so that organizations can see a recording of the show and book a virtual Q&A with the cast. |
