My first poems were written for school assignments, but when I was about ten years old I started writing poetry on my own. I've shifted between styles and topics over the years, later favoring free verse and spoken word poems rather than conventional structures.
From 2009 to 2013 I was an officer and regular contributor for Beverly High School's literary magazine, Aegis, the longest-running student-led publication in the United States. Several of my poems appeared in various issues during this time. In 2016 my poem "Feed" was included in the ninth issue of Whirlwind magazine. "Arriving at the Beginning" and "Judas Iscariot," were published in the Candlemas 2020 issue of Dappled Things. "Sebago Lake Reflection" and "Vocation" were featured in the summer 2022 issue of Shiki's Strings & Small Things. I have also shared some poems on Instagram and Facebook: "Judas Iscariot," first published in Dappled Things "Vocation," a sonnet inspired by Beauty and the Beast |
In 2017 I wrote a volume of social commentary poems for an advanced creative writing class. I named this collection The Altar of Convenience, after a popular metaphor in the pro-life movement. I printed the first edition of this chapbook through Gordon College's Student Design Center and held a reading on the campus for my senior project.
Videos of the 2017 reading can be viewed on my Facebook page. I have also shared some of the poems on Facebook: |
